About Us
Zimin Institutes is an initiative by the Zimin Foundation designed to identify and support applied research projects which are likely to translate into real-world technologies that better lives.

Zimin Foundation partners with distinguished universities around the world and creates Zimin Institutes together with these partners. Every year, each Zimin Institute supports several research projects that combine academic excellence with high potential for positive, real-world impact. The winners are selected on a competitive basis, following a call for proposals.

In 2018, the first Zimin Institute was established at Tel Aviv University (Israel). It is the Headquarters of the Zimin Institutes initiative. In 2020, the second Zimin Institute was launched at Arizona State University (USA). In 2022, the third Zimin Institute launched at the Technion (Israel).

With opportunity and progression comes responsibility. We believe that it is our responsibility to foster better healthcare, ecology, food engineering and other critical areas for humanity by supporting scientific and technological advancements.

Our mission in the next years is to create a synergetic ecosystem of Zimin Institutes, fostering the cooperation between scientists and deep tech entrepreneurs to tackle the world’s most pressing issues in healthcare and adjacent areas.

We support scientists who plan to commercialize their research by themselves or by partnering with the industry within 3 to 5 years after receiving our support.

TECHNION

The Zimin Institute at the Technion for AI Solutions in Healthcare was launched in 2022 to support the development of technologies based on big data, computational learning, and AI/ML to improve human healthcare on all levels.

His business track record includes C-level roles at TAIGER (AI) and Acronis (Data Protection), as well as business development roles in space and quantum technology industries. Mark is Chairman of Digital Transformation chapter at SGTech, Singapore's premier association for the tech industry, and Advisory Board member of the ICT branch of Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART).

Prof. David Mendlovic is a Full Professor of electro-optics at Tel Aviv University. He has authored more than 200 technical articles, 3 book chapters, and over 40 patents all of which have been commercialized. He is a founder of several opto-electronics startup companies and served as their CEO. The latest company David has co-founded, CorePhotonics, was acquired by Samsung in 2019.
